Well, the name of the shade of yellow is Summer Sun. It is Valspar paint from Lowe's. Now...next up on the agenda is deciding what color to paint the wall with the fireplace insert, and also whether or not to paint just that wall a different color, or that wall and the wall next to it. I know it's hard to judge when you aren't seeing the whole room....maybe I will get those shots up next. My house is such a wreck between trying to paint and rearrange and decorating for Christmas.
Dear Hubby thinks the wall needs to be a darker color because of the fireplace....smoke and yellowing, etc. ??? We are also thinking of using some old aged wood to trim out the fireplace, so it won't have the white trim around it, like the rest of the walls. Hope that makes sense.
This is the complete wall that I just finished painting. We haven't hung things back up on it or even moved all the furniture back against it yet...but wanted to get a pic.
So, what do you think?

I love yellow.
I'd paint the adjacent walls that orange color. I saw a beautiful one called Ripe Tomato. And I'd paint ALL of the wood trim, shelves, etc white. The contrast would be beautiful.
But it depends on the feeling/ look you are going for. Orange/ Reddish would be bright and cheerful. Green would be more soothing.

I'm going for bright and cheerful, but have always feared the "red" shades. I once read that red can raise the stress level of the room...or something like that. Sun-Kissed, didn't you say something about that once when you had a shade of red in your living room?
Ohhh...never fear RED!! There are soooo many shades, and you can't judge by just one.
Well, my "red" living room wall was more like dark mauve. It wasn't stressful so much as just too dark for me. I needed something brighter that would reflect more light. You know how I get on dreary days. My house needs COLOR.
Red is also the color of passion. :-) Remind Jason about that.
And the color I suggested isn't blood red or dark mauve...more like...well, a sweet orange-y ripe tomato with stark white contrast.
I'm sure it will turn out GREAT however you choose to do it. If I redid that wall, I'd do the bright color, white on ALL wood, and one or two LARGE frames hanging above the hearth, with nothing actually on the hearth. :-) I'd put the photos in the hall.
But don't look at my hall. It needs a redo. I ran out of stamina after doing all of the doors.
